National Social Service Scheme (NSS)
It is a centrally sponsored scheme run by educational institutions.
College has three NSS units, two sponsored and one self-financing.
The total number of volunteers registered under NSS is 250, 200 in 2 sponsored units and 50 in self-financing unit.
NSS conducts routine activities throughout the year besides holding a camp in the adopted village for seven days.
Other types of camps are also organized by NSS like blood donation camp, thyroid detection camp, thalassemia camp, aids awareness camp, environmental awareness rallies etc.
NSS is a powerful scheme run efficiently by college leading to State level and National level awards to our student volunteers.
Every year an award is given by the institution to the best NSS volunteer. This acts as a motivational factor and promotes NSS amongst students.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
College is hosting one NCC unit on self-financing basis. We have the Naval Wing.
NCC is a National Scheme run by educational institutions with a motto to inculcate the feeling of patriotism amongst students. It also helps in motivating the students towards disciplined life.
There is a Teacher In-charge to take care of the activities under NCC. Besides Parade, students participated in various camps within and outside the State.
Students regularly appear in "B" & "C" certificate exams. 18 students have cleared "B" Certificate exam and 11 are declared successful in "C" Certificate exam
Guardian Tutor Scheme
The objective of the scheme is to develop better rapport between teachers and students.
Students are divided in to small groups of 30 each and each group is allotted to one individual teacher who acts as their Guardian Tutor and performs the duty of being their friend-philosopher-guide.
On the first Saturday of every month, first two periods are allotted for a meeting of the students with their Guardian Tutor. A regular timetable is drawn room-wise for smooth conduction of the meetings.
The Guardian Tutor is free to use the allotted time the way she likes. Purpose is to develop a relationship of mutual faith and integrity so that the student can open up sharing her problems/concerns/difficulties, both personal and professional with the Guardian Tutor.
The Guardian Tutor informally collects lot of information from the students regarding institution, teaching learning and other areas of relevance.
After the meeting, the Guardian Tutor has to submit the report of her experience with the students. This report is compiled and the relevant issues are discussed at higher level. Wherever possible immediate action is taken.
At present there are 45 Guardian Tutor groups.
The entire scheme is coordinated and monitored by a senior faculty deputed by the Principal.
The scheme has positive impact on the growth and the development of the students on one hand and on the other hand on the governance of the institution.
The Student Union Committee works under the supervision of Union Advisor appointed by the Principal for an academic session.
As there is a ban on the elections of student union, there are no student member on the student union committee. However, all the activities are organized by the teacher members in the best possible way.
The committee takes care of all extra-curricular activities on the campus organized from time to time.
The Student Union Committee acts as a bridge between the students and the institution.
It is also responsible for encouraging the students to participate in as many activities as possible throughout the year.
